About me
I'm Marianne, and it's lovely to meet you!
I've always had a fascination for exploring what makes us human and, when I was choosing my A-Level options aged 15, little did I know how important choosing Psychology would be in shaping the life I'm living today, blessed to enjoy this glorious career and guiding the next generation of psychologists.
A Little About Me

What is the point of encouraging others to live their best lives in our role as mental health professionals if we’re not also doing the same?
Therefore, I always advocate that joy is an essential component to help us to thrive, so I promote this to everyone I work with, whatever stage of life or career they’re in.
For me, when I was an aspiring psychologist my joy included various magical experiences - everything from Pilates and partying with my friends, to adventuring around the world swinging in a hammock in Thailand, swimming with dolphins in New Zealand and visiting the Taj Mahal at sunrise.
We need to enjoy today, remembering to look sideways and enjoy where we are at right now, rather than solely focusing on an end goal.
And, in a career like psychology which can be incredibly competitive with no set time frame, this can be especially important.
Isn’t it interesting that, when we focus on today, it’s amazing how the end goal seems to come to fruition with less friction too?
As well as joy, compassion is so important to me. I believe that practicing it not only makes us happier, but that it creates an environment that uplifts everyone around us.
That’s why I build it into everything I do, from my legendary free compassionate Q&A sessions, to my books, podcast and membership. I really do practice what I preach!
I wish I had discovered compassion and started using it professionally long before I actually did!
I am passionately committed to easing people’s distress through the understanding, acceptance and peace which comes from compassion.
Even if you never choose to work with me, listen to a single podcast episode, read one of my books or join The Aspiring Psychologist membership, please lean into self-compassion right now because it might just change your life.
ABOUT ME

Life experience
For all of us, life is generally full of highs and lows, made up of a rich tapestry of experiences that shape our perspectives and who we become. We bring all this into our profession as a psychologist.
Being a daughter, a wife, a mother and a friend, and, sadly, grieving my dad, has all taught me so much that I bring to my career, and I am committed to helping you to celebrate your highs and to cope with your inevitable lows too.
